Steve,
Looks nice, too bad I work indoors.
I have a BT headset that I just got last month to try using with my
rig. As I currently understand bluetooth it is unsuitable for regular
wear because the battery life is not there yet in most cases. Mine
only gets 8-9hours before it needs charging so it will not take me
through a day. It does charge from usb so that is nice, but it does
not continue to work while charging so it really can't be used for a
full day of audio connectivity.
It seems "talk time" means "paired time" so a unit that says "8 hours
of talk time, 240 hours standby time" as mine does (a jabra BT500),
means "8 hours on". When I purchased it I thought it meant "8 hours
transmitting" but I was wrong. If someone else has found this not to
be the case and I am missing something, please let me know.
So now use it on those occations when I am not fully wearing the rig.
On Sunday when doing work around the house, when picking up someone
at the airport (where I figure the fewer wires and lumps the better
these days) - anytime I will just be using for a few hours or it would
be safer if the rig were a few feet away.
I have seen one Motorola headset that takes a single AAA battery and
claimes 30 of talk time. If that would mean 15 hours with a
rechargable AAA then I would consider it, but for now I am sticking
with my Plantronics wired headset. It is lighter, gives better sound
and speech quality, and never needs charging...
