I'm not following you.  I'm not aware of any HMD's that don't have a VGA connector than accept DVI-D or S-video.  They all want Composite(NSCT) singal and while the  S-video's the Y channel, carries combined intensity and timing signals consistent with RS-170 monocrome singal that don't help if you use a color HMD.
