My impression is that the speaker/mic are in the keyboard unit, so one
could hold that up to the ear with one arm while still looking at the
display unit mounted on the other arm. Obviously the device isn't
meant to be used as a phone and a wearable at the same time (or a
wearable at all, but whatever).
