Even though it has variable opacity, looking at this picture:

I think those thick plastic sides would still obscure some peripheral
vision.
Looking at this picture of the Xybernaut Xyberview:

I think that would be more what I'm looking for. Since the mirror is
suspended by an arm above the eye, it wouldn't block out any periphery.
But it doesn't display composite video, and is a little big.
