I got a kick out of this story about a local school switching from Windows to Linux. For those of you doing the education thing, there are actually some good ideas on their web site (a cart made of 12 old laptops that act as thin clients they can wheel into any class room to instantly get a 1 student to 1 computer ratio, for example).

Now, if we can just get them to get all the kids wearables ...

Hope to see y'all at ISWC next week!

Thad

You may get a kick out of this. My daughter’s
school has transitioned to Linux for their educational computers. Here is
the page linking to the details: http://morrisbrandon.com/index.php?name=Sections&req=listarticles&secid=7

Particularly this document on the first year results: http://morrisbrandon.com/tech/BrandonFinalBriefingjul06.pdf.
Teachers prefer it since the uptime is much greater than before.

Thought you might be interested. Now I just have to
get Ubuntu on that OLPC…
