Are these thing going to be sold to consumers or are they going to be sold to OEMs to be included in devices to be sold to consumers.
If it's OEMs you can forget about this effecting HMD prices. They are called viewfinders.
The cost of HMD isn't the displays it is the housing.
But we aren't going to see mobile HMDs until after we see Desktop HMDs.

You can't sell the overpriced lexury version until you have allready created the market with the elcheepo version.
HMD need the equvilant of the PDA's 'Pilot 1000'. Or the NetBook's ' XO-1'. But that isn't going to happen becouse you it is not profitable. Palm that made the 'Pilot 1000' wasn't in the bussness of selling PDAs it was in the bessness of selling software for PDAs. OLPC isn't a netBook maker ether. I'd like to point out the OLPC also failed to make a $100 laptop for students but these guys did:
