Well, I guess the decisive experiment is easy enough to do, even in one's head:
put on 1 expensive but otherwise ordinary glove when you wake in the morning,
then wear it all through some ordinary day and see if the number of times
you need to take it off is burdensome.
BTW Michael Jackson says a single glove is kind of a spectacle. :-)
