EyeFi card and a linux laptop(needs to support running as an access point for the EyeFi to connect) and a GPS and you got Realtime Geotaging.

Xvid/DivX compression on qvga geting you much smaller file than mpg audio.  When I was transcoding videos for my palm I ended up with 6M of video and 25M of audio data. :P  
For larger resalutions you could try motion IW44.
I'm not sure how much CPU it takes.  But if I remember VLC does realtime DivX encoding. And there are chips designed to do it.
