ROUGH DRAFT Run Log for 970520 Present: Tia - Cassandra, Damia Rich - Ferro Lori - Celeste Dave K - Ilk, logging Kevin - Zack Barb - Cathryn Dave R - Malachai ------------------ In Amber Ferro is attempting to walk the entire length of the Pattern simultaneously. He's in centipede form, and each of his pairs of legs are straddling the lines of the Pattern. Zack is at the Chaos end of the ambassadorial transfer point from Chaos to Amber. He goes through, arriving in Amber town. A couple of guards salute him, and seem startled at his presence. They say that it's not yet time for the transfer. "To my knowledge, I am merely my own one-man exodus." Zack trumps to the castle. Ferro, while walking the Pattern, is aware that someone just trumped into the transfer point in the courtyard. Damia and Cyndia had wandered off to find the letter of authority from Malachai to give to Prospero. Damia goes to the library. The guards in the courtyard greet Zack and ask him if he has come to be in charge. Zack passes. The guard insults women in general, and Paulette in specific. Zack refutes the argument, and the guard counters. Guard - "Every time a woman is put in charge, this place goes to hell in a hand-basket." Zack - "When is that?" Guard - "Clarissa, Fiona,..." Zack wanders over to Ilk, who is standing in the courtyard, furnishing the room given to him by Damia via Logrus. They chat. Zack suggests that Ilk not acquire furniture from shadow - in fact, he advises Ilk to put it back and conjure some. Ilk is fascinated at the concept. Ilk mentions the acquisition of guards by Norton and Sethra. Zack picks up food on his way to his room. He chats with Theraat, and gives her paper on which to copy the diagrams that she was scrawling on the walls. Zack then starts rerouting some Flora bits. Flora has mostly healed, but she is somewhat miswired. -------------------------------- In Pearl Cassandra has wandered off and disappeared. The guide returns, and Malachai grills him. Malachai is supposed to be guarding Cassandra, but can't. He asks Darkstar to trump her - he does so, and they chat. Darkstar passes Malachai through. Cassandra is on the roof of a tower. A big cat is covering three quarters of the conical rooftop, and Cassandra is on the rest. Malachai goes through with Galantine drawn, and uses Galantine as an anchor point to remain on the roof. Cassandra wants a cat to go with her, but all of them that she's talked to are busy. Malachai expresses a wish that Darhyse be here; Cassandra wishes that she could remember Darhyse. A conversation happens. Lazy jumps/pours off the roof, and lands at the base of the tower, twenty-five or thirty stories down. Malachai trumps Darkstar, passes Cassandra through to him, and then follows her. Celeste and Cassandra talk. Malachai is to quest after Corwin, and Darkstar is to stay with Cassandra. Four guards appear. They send the loud guard back. The four guards are Sasha, Aaron, Denise, and Cindy. Sasha is Burke's fiance. A conversation happens. Five people, a bug, and a cat climb into a cat's mouth. -------------------------------- Dinner in Mandorways Cathryn and Jesby are invited to join Mandor and Benedict in dinner. Mandor raises a cup to new friends and old. It's a very delicious, very quiet meal. After dinner, Benedict rises to leave. Cathryn asks Benedict if he knows anything about the current location of their house. He states that he will discuss this in different company. Mandor raises an eyebrow. Cathryn chats with Mandor; he says that there may soon be a resettling of the houses if those on top don't do anything. Mandor says that his mother has not been heard of. He went to the room where her poor, patched pieces of wood were secured, and they were gone. Mandor asks who the person was that was wearing the seal of Jesby. Cathryn doesn't know; Jesby says that she is from one of the minor branches of the house, and has been around for quite some time. Cathryn and Jesby discuss killing Bleys. Cathryn, at Jesby's prompting, asks Mandor if he would be interested in looking up a certain demon goddess. Mandor expresses interest in looking her up in fifty years or so, and it is decided that he owes her a favor for the reference. Cathryn and Jesby depart. They climb onto their barge, and see another barge next to it, carrying Benedict. They attach the two barges, and Benedict's crew starts poling. Benedict is talking about the weather. As they approach the Warriors Guild, they notice a slope in the demons. There are warriors next the the Guild killing demons. They end up at the front door. Two warriors charge out, and Benedict kills them and then apologizes to their corpses for not recognizing that they were his messengers. The Warriors Guild is completely at peace. Cathryn is shocked. They enter Benedict's sanctum. He does something that causes a chill to run across Cathryn's spine, and then he says that they can now talk freely. "I fear my brother has meddled farther than he should and has taken a hand in your House's politics. ... It is unfortunate that he is dead so we cannot find out exactly what he did." Benedict thinks that Brand was behind it, and then proceeds to cast suspicion on the entire red headed mob. "... as long as it stays in this room, it is perfectly protected. I had Suhuy's word on it." They converse, and contemplate a minor diversion, entering Clarissa's realm and taking the spheres containing some of the redheads. They decide that it would be best to ask Clarissa's permission first. Rivka had shown Benedict a back way into Clarissa's realm. Benedict leads them off into shadow. ------------------- In Amber Ilk gets a status report from his troops in House Cara. All stable. He sends a high ranking guard off to get more detailed status reports from appropriate people within the house, casts a bug into the dining room in Amber, and waits. Zack has produced paper and done surgery on Flora. He makes some more paper, and asks Theraat to clean up the scrawlings on the walls when she's done copying. The scrawling is in Narn. Zack goes to the dining room. Ilk teleports to outside the dining room and walks in. They chat. Ilk mentions Vlad's situation. Zack and Ilk head towards Norton. Norton and Sethra are wandering in the basement of the castle looking for demons to kill. The two groups meet, and chat. Zack asks Norton to release the guards. He does so, and they look surprised and wander off. Zack and Norton chat. The mob heads towards the ambassadorial wing. ------------------------- In the Cat's Mouth After a long and laborious ride, Trialla opens her mouth and lets them out. They're on a flat, hot, sandy plain. Malachai tries to trump Zack and fails. Trialla wanders off to the side, digs a bit, uses the litter-plain, and then returns and opens her mouth. Malachai wanders around Trialla and uses the facilities. They climb back in, except for Lazybones (the small cat), who just climbs on top. Malachai no longer feels fluffy-headed, and says that they're past the Barrier and it should be safe to ride outside. Cassandra asks if they can ride on top; Trialla lowers a leg. They climb on, with the exception of Malachai. Malachai asks Celeste take care of his sister. Darkstar makes a trump of Cassandra for Malachai, and Malachai trumps to Amber. ------------- In Amber Ilk mentions that Zack should see what Norton did to some people in a dining room. Zack interrogates Norton. Ilk tosses in the occasional side comment. Zack tries to explain that everyone in the castle is under the protection of the castle, and should not be killed or transformed. They chat. ---------------------- In Darkover Some little furry things crawl out of Trialla's ear. She plays with them as they ride through the desert. Cassandra notices three sets of footsteps in the sand. One are Benedict's, and the others look like Cathryn and the female person that she rescued from Pearl. Celeste trumps her daughter and they chat. Benedict takes Cathryn and Jesby through the back way into Darkover, points, then trumps out. Celeste starts accumulating power for the transit up for herself, Cathryn, the guards, Lazy, Trialla, and Darkstar. A group of women greet Cathryn and Jesby. They chat, and wander off. They spot Trialla & company, and head over to them. Cassandra nudges Celeste - a convoy is approaching. Celeste starts leaking power, and clamps it down. She looks in that direction - it's a group of free amazons with two dignitaries in tow. As they approach, Cassandra notices that the dignitaries are Jesby and Cathryn. Cathryn greets Trialla. Cathryn admits to being in the wrong shape, and introduces Trialla to Jesby. Jesby greets Trialla in cat in the name of her ancestor Snarsht, and they swap comments back and forth. Trialla says that they were looking for help in repairing the broken one. Trialla, Cathryn, and Jesby decide to combine their searches. Cassandra is sitting on top of Trialla with Greyswandir on her lap, and two guards flanking her at the ready. Cathryn and Celeste exchange words; Cathryn notices a resemblance to Clarissa and the person who served her during her time in Clarissa's. Clarissa chats with Celeste, takes over her eyes, then transports down. Cathryn notices that all of the drytown women just happen to be looking at someplace other than Clarissa when she appears. They fall to their knees and start worshiping her. Cathryn greets Clarissa. Clarissa greets Cassandra and asks her if is here to take her up on her offer of tutoring. Celeste transports the group to the overworld. Clarissa asks Cathryn why she's here, and she complains that she lost House Jesby. They chat. Clarissa asks the free amazons to take good care of the two of them. ----------------- In Amber Zack pulls Sethra aside and scolds her over the vapids. Zack wants Sethra to repair the vapids. Norton makes himself alive, just to see if her can. He doesn't like it, and goes back to being dead. He tries to do it to Sethra, and fails. They try to fix the vapids - nope, they're dead. Zombie amusement ensues. Zack sends the vapids and Sethra through a trump gate to Castle Black. Norton starts pulling stuff around, including the Frog of Judgment. He puts most of it back, with the exception of two cards. He starts going through the trump gate. Ilk tries to pull a switcheroo to examine the last thing that Norton pulled in, and ends up in Norton's pocket. He teleports back to Amber, and then gives a brief explanation to Zack. Zack gets a trump call. -------- In the Overworld Cassandra, Celeste, et al are in the overworld. They arrive in Celeste's aviary, and are dive-bombed by mechanical, illusionary birds. Celeste leaves to acquire refreshments. They play with birds. Lazy opens his mouth and a bird jumps in. Lazy closes his mouth, and refuses to release it. Celeste returns with food. Lazy refuses to open his mouth. A girl enters a doorway and greets Celeste as "mum". Celeste turns around with a confused look and says, "Cousin - so good to see you..." Celeste introduces Cassandra, "daughter of Corwin. Of Amber" to "my cousin Faythe" Celeste says that they're here to fix Cassandra's memory. Darkstar stoops on Faythe's head, startling her, and then drops to the ground and his normal form. Faythe mentions that one of the birds is missing. Cassandra kicks Lazy. They discuss fixing Cassandra. Cassandra balks - she doesn't want Darkstar to acquire some of her memories. Clarissa arrives, and takes Cassandra on an invigorating tour of the tower. Dinner happens.
