ROUGH DRAFT Run Log for 970527 Present: Dave R - Malachai Barb - Cathryn Kevin - Zack Laori - Celeste Tia - Cassandra, Damia Dave K - Ilk, logging -------------------- Zack ditches Ilkandacian, and is pulled through a trump contact by Malachai to help with Corwin. Malachai tells Zack about the Corwin situation, and that there are apparently two ways to fix him. A Pattern walk on Corwin's Pattern while carrying him, but Merlin is missing, Cassandra is missing her memory, and Malachai is uncertain of his parentage, and the Titania solution. Zack is willing to try to contact Titania, but also wants to track down his father. Zack trumps Turvallen. Turvallen says that he is holding the end of the chain that he was following, and that he has located what seem to be Julian bits, but cannot recover or consolidate them. Malachai asks Zack if he knows about Faerie, and if she might be willing to assist in finding Corwin's soul. Malachai trumps Darkstar. --------------- Cassandra is in Darkover, contemplating repairs to her mind. Darkstar has told her that there are two parts of the task, physical and mental, and that repairing one without the other could result in permanent loss of memory, as could delaying the repairs. Cassandra declines repairs, out of fear of compromise of Corwin's secrets. Celeste tries to talk her out of it. Darkstar, Celeste, and Cassandra continue to talk about the possibilities of restoring Casandra's memories. Cassandra still wants more guarantees out of Darkstar than he can give regarding the sanctity of any memories he finds in her head. When he explains that any of a number of powerful beings could rip the knowledge from either of their heads, she is somewhat conciliated. Cassandra tries to trump Malachai. Celeste notices a disturbance in the aviary. There's a little black cat riding on the back of several of the birds. It grins at her and fades out. Celeste goes to Cassandra for an explanation. --------------- Malachai reaches Darkstar. Darkstar turns to Celeste and asks her if he might bring some more visitors up - Malachai and Zack. Celeste sends "cousin" Faythe off to sort herbs. Malachai and Zack go through, and discuss Cassandra's situation. Clarissa enters the room. They chat. She is amused at the concept of undead vapid zombies. Clarissa asks Zack for a favor, and tosses a stone at him. Zack dodges, and the stone reorients on his new position. He asks her if it is the stone that she got from Ingold, and she agrees, clarifying that she got it from Cathryn. Zack catches the stone in a teacup. As he feels it enter his aura, he feels extremely enhanced, as if he is drinking from Auricle. Clarissa claims that she is experimenting in how the rock interacts with various powers. She asks for the rock back, and Zack reluctantly returns it. Zack asks Clarissa about the demons attached to the rock, and she tells him that they're in the overworld. People expect to meet demons there, but they're usually from their imagination. Peekaboo wanders in, and wanders around, including wandering through Clarissa, which annoys her. They discuss repairing Cassandra again. She agrees to the repairs. Zack wanders off to get some food and then prepare for the journey. Celeste summons Faythe to fix Cassandra. ---------------------------- The group of Free Amazons take Cathryn and Jesby to a nice womens' dormitory. Cathryn is not impressed. She boozes to escape, and her mother and the amazons trade war stories. Time passes. ----------------------- Ilk, having been abandoned by Zack, sends a tendril off lookng for Zack, another towards Home, and looks around locally for the AD&D run. Blaze is up on the roof making friends with the giant cat. Natasha is down in the kitchens trading cooking secrets with Amber's staff. The pig is wandering around looking for Zack. Theresa is herding a small, misshapen dwarf towards Damia. Theresa's telling him stories about some interesting byplay in some lands near the Spiral. Dworkin was apparently there for it. Damia follows them in and shuts the door behind them. When Ilk sends a tendril out looking for Damia, he gets a headache from a massive wash of Pattern-energy near her. Ilk wanders downstairs to chat with Damia and the Pattern-source. Damia greets him at the door and declines to send him away. Ilk sees someone who looks vaguely like Suhuy shouting away with Theresa. It's not a direct resemblance, but more of a family resemblance. Dworkin opens a face on the side of him that is facing Ilk, and asks him if he is the one that has been mucking up his castle with that nasty Logrus stuff. Ilk says that he's been fairly restrained as of late, and blames the mess on Norton. Dworkin says, "Good, good, i won't have to kill you out of hand, then." The face goes away. At no point did the original face stop chatting with Theresa. Damia and Dworkin chat about Ferro and assigning rooms. Dworkin is fairly harsh towards Oberon. "Maybe I should have refrigerated him more as a child." Dworkin insists that "his son", Ferro, is in charge. Ilk, realizing that a vital bit of information is missing here, leads the group in introductions. Damia's side of the conversation becomes a bit more sane. The conversation is long and highly entertaining, but goes nowhere. Dworkin threatens to leave and take his castle and Pattern with him. Ilk tries to get aid from Dworkin regarding his cousin's current situation. Dworkin reaches out, grabs one of the doors in the Courts to which a Vlad bit is Pattern-stapled, examines the door, removes the staple, hands Ilk the fingernail and bit of finger that was just rescued, and starts munching on the door. Ilk has a bite as well, just to be polite. Dworkin wanders off, muttering about finding a staple remover. ---------------------- Cathryn is sitting in the chapter house, when a female Dworkin-looking creature wanders in. She says that she needs three of Cathryn's hairs in order to make a staple remover. They chat. Cathryn - "Do you know Dworkin?" Dworkin - "I should hope so... I'm Dworkin." He pulls his face off, turns it around, and puts it back on. This side of the face looks like Dworkin. He pulls it back off, turns it around, and looks at it, then puts it back on. Dworkin asks her for three of her hairs for a staple remover. Cathryn waffles, and demands to know an explanation. Dworkin puts a hand on Cathryn, and reaches. Ilk gets a trump contact, assumes that it's Stormy, and accepts. It's Dworkin. He asks if he can keep the staple remover. Cathryn chimes in. The three chat. Cathryn wants to know why he needs her hairs - "they don't have Pattern in them." "Neither does he." "He's not blood of my blood." Cathryn wants her hairs back; Dworkin wants to keep the staple remover, and Ilk offers Cathryn a favor if she agrees to give Dworkin the hairs. Dworkin says that he'll return it maybe if he remembers when he's done. Cathryn finally agrees; Dworkin takes three specific hairs, and breaks the contact. Dworkin hands Cathryn a Jewel of Judgement, and tells her that it is so she can contact him. He leaves, then wanders back in, looks at Jesby, and asks, "do I know you?... ah, right - you're my grandaughter. Or is that g-grandaughter? Or are you my brother's?" He concludes that she must be Suhuy's grandaughter, and offers her a date. He hands her the date, and wanders off. Cathryn and Jesby chat about Dworkin. Cathryn starts reaching around, and finds a number of blue crystals hung around the necks of people around here. She takes one and examines it. It appears to be a powerful magical focus. --------------------- Faythe Healer Zack is in the kitchen making some food for the upcoming trip to Faerie. Malachai is holding Cassandra's hand. Lazy has moved to put himself in Cassandra's line of sight so she doesn't have to move her eyes to see him. Faythe does a normalizing scan. Darkstar settles himself over Cassandra in the form of a blanket. She can still see, and a warm humming begins in her bones. Malachai is no longer touching her. Cassandra has a moment of no time; about a half of an hour by Celeste's reckoning. Celeste feeds Faythe power. Cassandra wakes up. She has dual memories. Now is either falling through the air towards the pikes or lying on a table. She looks around. Her senses definitely add information to one of the two now's. There is still a blanket over her, and she doesn't feel like she is falling. Faythe has fallen over in an exhausted puddle. Celeste picks up the puddle, wraps it in a blanket, and sets it on a couch. Faythe sneaks a kiss on her hand. Celeste hugs the bundle. Darkstar is snoring. Malachai wakes him up, and asks when he is going to do his part of the fix. Darkstar replies that she's all fixed, and rolls up like a shade. Celeste puts the blanket on another sofa. Celeste and Malachai help Cassandra to a chair. She has all of her memories, but still needs to integrate them, and seems to be overcompensating for every move. A servant pokes her head into the kitchen and tells Zack that they're all done. Zack wanders in with food and greets them. Malachai feeds her. Clarissa wanders in and expresses her disappointment at not having been present to poke through Cassandra's brain. She mentions that she has been able to pretty much confirm that it really is Pattern inside that rock. She's not quite sure how to get rid of the chains, though. Zack asks Clarissa how skilled she is at removing Pattern staples. He tells her that a member of Cara, his adopted house in Chaos, is having some problems with some Pattern-staples causing problems in places where they shouldn't be. "Cara? The house allied with the Queen?" "Only a few rogue members." Peekaboo amusement happens. Celeste and Malachai chat. Celeste and Malachai mumble, stammer, and try to tell Cassandra something. Faythe noticed something during the scan... "Your internal maturity level has not caught up with your external maturity level." - Celeste They chat about fixing Corwin; the general impression is that Cassandra is too young internally to walk the Pattern. Zack and Cassandra chat; Zack explains about the state of the Julian hunt, and says that after what this Julian that may not have been his father has done, he was definitely willing for forestall his quest to help Corwin, who has always been one of his favorite uncles. Malachai picks up the Darkstar-bedroll. Cassandra asks if there is an open place for her to practice her sword forms, and Clarissa mentions that there is a nice big spot outside, as long as she doesn't mind some demons. Cassandra pulls Greyswandir and heads outside. Clarissa - "They're not my demons. They're Cathryn's." Cassandra returns. They prepare to leave Darkover. Celeste indicates that she will stay. Clarissa suggests that perhaps Celeste could go with them and give her opposite a minor gift... and holds out an apple, red on one side, golden on the other, and smelling faintly of almonds. All present decline to present Clarissa's gift to the Queen of Faerie. --------------------- Cathryn and Jesby are chatting when Clarissa arrives. She chats with them for a bit and says that Bleys wasn't responding to any of her calls, but that they could stop by and visit his lab. Cathryn agrees, and blue nimbus coalesces around her, wrenches her across reality, deposits her in a well-stocked magical and scientific lab. Cathryn and Clarissa chat some more, and conclude that they should go find Oberon. They start by going to castle Amber. Clarissa tinkers with some lab equipment, and they *bamf* out. Ilk feels an influx of Logrus energy into the Castle. It has Jesby's signature all over it. Ilk tosses a bug out there, and it gets kicked back with a note, "Don't spy on your elders, dear". He tosses back a "Hmmph". Clarissa - "Did you know Ilkandacian is here, dear?" Cathryn - "Ilkandacian?" Clarissa - "He tried to spy on me." Cathryn - "Spy on me, I think." Clarissa - "Why would he do that?" Cathryn - "Suhuy asked him to." Clarissa - "The children these days, no manners..." Damia gets a trump call from Cyndia, saying that there are some visitors. Ilk tells Damia that Cathryn is here, along with her mother. Random imbibes something in anticipation of Jesby's arrival. A guard approaches Clarissa and gives her an invitation to audience with Queen Paulette. She tels the guard that Queen Clarissa would be glad to accept the invitation. Damia and Clarissa have a cat fight. Cathryn occasionally joins in. (Ilk conjures a note for Clarissa containing the coordinates of the vapids; she bursts out in laughter) Cathryn tries to trump Oberon, keeping the trump internal. Nothing - out of range. Cathryn discreetly asks Random what this is, and shows him the Jewel. "It's the Jewel of Judgement." "What can it do?" "Everything." Oberon used the Jewel to make it snow on Random's birthday. Cathryn is horrified when Random tells her that Malachai gave Damia the queen-ship of Amber. Ilk makes polite conversation with Jesby to give them an excuse not to listen into the two conversations. She puts up an illusion of the two of them chatting and asks him if she can use him as a power source so she can search for Pattern-weenies, in order to find Oberon. He warns her that Dworkin is about, and so subtlety might be in order. Cathryn puts up a ward over her and Random. They chat about torturing Bleys and recovering her House. She drops the ward in disgust. Dworkin walks in, and tells Ilk and Jesby to "Stop that!" Jesby continues. Clarissa introduces herself to Dworkin as Cathryn's daughter, and Dworkin starts proclaiming different people in the room to be Queen of Amber. Dworkin hands Ilkandacian a staple remover. It looks like a perfectly normal staple remover, with no hints of power in it. Dworkin shifts into Faella and wanders out. Clarissa drifts out soon afterwards, "...to visit Dworkin again." Jesby thanks Ilk for his help, and says that she has found Oberon. She invites him to come along; he declines. The illusion around Jesby and Ilk fades out, and Cathryn sees Ilk and Jesby fade in a bit to the side from where they were apparently chatting before. Jesby and Cathryn vanish. When they reappear, the're standing in front of a pissed off Gerard. Ilk takes his leave of Damia and teleports Home with his newfound staple remover. --EORun--
