DRAFT Run Log for 970923 Present: Tia - Damia, Cassandra Andrew - Osric Lori - Celeste Dave R - Malachai Dave K - Ilk, logging Ken - Norton ------------------------------ Corwin, the Shadow-Lame [Retconning Malachai] Malachai, Merlin, Corwin, and Osric are following the direction indicated by the locator device that used to be Serena's trump. Malachai finds a hammer in the road in front of them. It looks like the one that Tazik customarily wears at her belt. It's broken in the shaft, The ground is churned, as if there was a fight, or horses. Corwin comments that this is a piss-poor place for an ambush. When Malachai picks up the hammer, he notices that the shaft is not wood - it appears to be the resined male genetalia organ of a large bull. It looks like it was snapped by a single blow, broken by some blunt object. The head of the hammer is extremely heavy. They continue on. The cold is getting more intense. Fifteen or twenty shadows later, Merlin calls a halt, saying that they just set off someone's wards. While they discuss what to do about this, a big hairy guy carrying a stick appears in front of them in a big glittery puff of smoke. Osric turns into a somewhat smaller than man-sized lizard. Corwin and Malachai are pointing their swords at him. [3.5 - 4 feet tall version of the old description of a T-rex, but with useful forearms] "I am the great wizard! Why do you disturb my rest!" "To kill you?" "You cannot kill me. I am the great wizard!" The stick answers, "Corwin?" "Dad - you keep butting in! You're dead! Stop that!" The stick and the hairy guy argue, and the group continues on. The trump continues to get colder, and the directional arc widens. Merlin goes through a scrying ritual for Serena. The pre-ritual fails miserably. Osric tries to scry for Serena, and fails, but spots an approaching winter storm front. They flee the storm through shadow, then stop and Merlin conjures snowsuits for Malachai and Beucephalus. They return to the storm. Osric adjusts, Corwin raises his collar a bit, Malachai is toasty warm. The trump now points in a 320-degree arc. Osric's horse is shivering; Osric exudes heat for it. Osric acquires heat vision. Malachai and his horse are practically invisible, Corwin is shivering a bit but trying to keep anyone from noticing, and Merlin is exuding a massive heat plume. The storm continues to get worse and worse, and their visibility continues to drop. Osric notices that he can't see Malachai any more, and Malachai notices that it's awfully quiet behind him. Malachai tries to trump Corwin, and nothing happens. -------------------------- Back in Chaos Rainbow hands Osric a butterfly. Osric hands it back. Ilkandacian pops back out, and takes Osric through next. Norton asks Rainbow about the butterfly thing. At one point, someone runs from one portal-point near Norton into another, yelling, "The Corwin is coming! The Corwin is coming!" --------------------- Dinner in Cobalt Damia is settling Vialle with two of her children - Althea and Aurora. Damia changes for the party. Brandt has been hustled off by a number of the women. A fairly old woman comes up to Celeste and looks her up and down. She's carrying a carpetbaggish thing with a strand of yarn spooling out from the bag behind her. A discussion of Cobalt family breeding habits occurs in front of Celeste. It is revealed that Damia is pregnant again, as a result of breeding outside the family. Preparations for dinner happens. Columbine unsuccessfully propositions Celeste; Damia looks up her children. Columbine shows Celeste around the castle and acquires something for her to wear. Dinner begins ---------------------- Back in Chaos Osric is wrapped in flesh and discomfort and goes through some pretty heinous transforms and ends up in a small, plain, empty room. Ilk and Osric discuss the absence of the others. Ilk disappears again to fetch Norton. Osric looks through the drawers of the table, and finds a deck of cards. He plays solitaire. Some of the backs are standard, and some are abstract drawings of people. One is the king of spades, one is the king of hearts, one is the queen of hearts, and one is the jack of diamonds. He looks through the drawer some more, and finds a short stick and some dust. Ilk pops to the outside, and returns with Rainbow. Norton releases his Cthulu. It goes off, rapes a demon, and the demon starts spawning more Cthulus. Norton convinces the seven Cthulus to stop breeding, and then neuters them, decreating one that starts humping his leg. Rainbow offers to play cards with Osric. Ilk looks at the cards with Logrus, and Osric and Rainbow disappear. Ilk heads back out. Norton makes the demon not pregnant. Ilk checks out the Pattern levels in Norton, then takes him through. Ilk points out the cards. Norton studies them. [The GM grumps about wanting dice] A thousand thousand tendrils converge on Ilk, trying to turn him into a two-dimensional image. He dodges, then hides. Once the tendrils have passed him, he returns. Ilk suggests that Norton touch the popsicle stick to the cards. When Norton touches the cards to the numbers, it sinks in. Ilk leaves with the cards and the popsicle stick. He feels a wrenching behind him as if a door was being slammed shut behind him and locked. Once Ilk leaves, everyone is back. There's someone else in the room with them. It's Merlin. He says that he was kidnaped by a group of thugs. They say that they were just playing cards and then everyone appeared. Ilk returns Home. He looks at the cards. They're boring. The stick, however, bothers him. It bothers Clarissa, too. Clarissa offers to come along and help. Clarissa transports herself and Ilk to the Courts. Ilk hands her the cards and the stick, and heads back in. The group inside chats. --EORun--
