DRAFT Run Log for 971007 Present: Tia - Cassandra Rich - Ferro Dave R - Malachai Dave K - Ilk, logging Lori - Celeste Andrew - Osric Ken - Norton ----------------- Party in (the wrong, again) Chaos Ferro is at a wild party in the wrong Courts of Chaos. Everyone is celebrating their freedom from Benedict's tryanny, with surprisingly little damage being done to infrastructure. Ferro is being handed from person to person as the bearer of the good news and is being constantly plied with drinks and other oddities. He's had to shift to marsipan to deal with the drugs. He's acquired a slight buzz - every now and then a mosquito flies off. It's lots of fun until Benedict's troops start shooting people to restore order. Ferro tries to convince the guards to stop shooting, and they invite him inside to examine his credentials. Unfortunately, Ferro's credentials give him leave to talk with the Philosophers Guild, not to order around troops. Ferro and the troops argue about the maintaining of law and order, and the troops claim that nobody is really being hurt by the bullets. Ferro goes to tell Toram that the party should calm down a bit - Benedict hasn't told any one that the war is over yet. "Everyone! Calm down! Didn't work." Ferro walks towards Benedict. ----------------- Quest for Serena, Part N Malachai is in a room at the top of a tower, just having seen the kid fade out along with Serena, Serena being strapped to a contraption. Tazik enters the tower as well. They chat. Malachai jumps the three stories down to the roof of the castle, carrying Tazik and Serena's pack. They work their way down to ground level, wedging themselves between the castle and the cliff behind it. They head around the castle looking for Beucephalus. The bears and the wolves are converging on the front of the castle. ----------------- Our Heroes versus Toram - Battle is Joined Ilk briefly contemplates attempting to plunge a Morganti between Toram's shoulder blades before he turns around, and decides that he doesn't really feel like dying just yet. Ilk squishes the butterfly, vibrating, "The Logrus defenses are down, Toram is here." Half of the butterflies immediately start chasing the other half. When pairs of butterflies unite, they form greasy droplets that start inflating. Ilk shifts into Mikail, and one of the blue balls starts vibrating and turns into Clarissa. Toram turns around and sees two redheads staring at him. Ilk hides behind Clarissa. Clarissa looks at Toram, and says, "This is your fault, isn't it?" Toram looks at Clarissa and offhandedly tosses more magic than Ilk has ever seen in any one place at any point in time. Clarissa struggles with it a bit, absorbs it into herself, gives out a slight burp, and sends back a very subtle spell in his direction. As far as ilk can tell, the spell tells toram that clarissa is two feet to the left of where she is. the clarissa two feet to the left waggles its finger at toram, and the other one starts doing something to the other sphere. Ilk goes behind Osric's sphere and starts peeling off tendrils and throwing them at Toram. Osric turns into a polychromatic snake and pours out through the hole. Ilk pokes Osric with a tendril and says, "It's me, Ilk." Osric drops his shield, and is immediately beset by hundreds of thousands of tendrils. Ilk tries to throw tendrils at Toram, but there are too many. Osric reshields the two of them. Ilk reassumes his normal form, and they chat. -------- Magic-eating Flying Piranna-leeches Meanwhile, outside, but still within Suhuy's realm, Norton has gotten bored and wandered off. Norton describes his plan to make magic-eating flying piranna-looking leeches that reproduce by meiosis when they've eaten enough magic. He heads to the dungeons, where he rips up a few prisoners into the leeches. Norton heads back up towards the workroom. -------- Ferro is heading towards Benedict. The environment is strange, and things are attacking him about every thirty feet. He tries to avoid them, with little success. He returns to Chaos and starts looking for Toram. ------------ Celeste Sells Her Soul to Titania Celeste is in a bubble between Faerie and reality talking with Titania. They verbally fence. Celeste agrees to assist by being some form of hostage to lure her father into Titania's clutches in return for the freedom of passage through Faerie. Celeste appears on the other side of the Faerie gate along with Zack. Zack is still in mid-word. They chat briefly. Zack asks for a picture of Faythe to show to his troops. Celeste tries to conjure some paper and a pencil. There is a pause, and then in the back of her head she hears Titania, "I guess that counts as passage." and it appears. Celeste paints a picture of her daughter for Zack. [I find your lack of Faythe disturbing...] When Celeste closes her eyes to look at her trump of Faythe, it's someone she has never seen before. She looks somewhat elven, and vaguely Julian. ------------ Ferro Considers Drawing Yet Another Pattern Ferro finds Toram. He's in a hang glider over Chaos, dropping burning things on the people shooting at the partiers. Ferro asks for permission to use Toram's cellar, and Toram ends up handing Ferro a bottle of wine from the cellar. Ferro contemplates drawing a Pattern on the surface of the bottle of wine. [The Pattern Purity Test Question number thirteen - Have you ever drawn a Pattern in mid-air?] ------------ Quest for Serena, Part N+1 Malachai continues looking for Beucephalus. He reaches the front of the castle, where he sees the wolf gnawing on the hindquarters of the pig. Beucephalus is not in sight. Malachai and Tazik head into the snowstorm behind the wolf in search of Beucephalus. Malachai shifts out of the shadow, then shifts towards Beucephalus. He finds the horse and the girl, and they head out in search of someplace warm. Malachai shifts towards shelter from the sun, and arrives at an inn. "What happened?" "We were best. By brigands." Tazik describes the battle in some depth. It is obvious to Malachai that it was a trap, and that Serena was the target. Serena had been chained to the wall next to Tazik when Tazik's eyes were ripped out, and had been told that she was next. The castle they were in was not the ice castle. Malachai tries to trump Corwin, and hits a block. He tries Zack, and can't reach him. Benedict - hits a trump block. Cassandra - no luck. Malachai pulls out Serena's trump, and it's a normal trump now. He tries it, and gets an electric shock again. Malachai tries to trump Gerard. He doesn't get through, but for a brief moment he gets a touch of Gerard's panic. He's definitely alive. While they are resting up, four horsemen wearing blue tabards ride up and enter the bar. While the four are drinking, a surly guy takes offense at their not toasting the Cardinal before drinking. A swordfight ensues around Malachai and Tazik. The little girl tells them to stop, or her daddy will beat them all up. The remaining combatants take offense, and express their displeasure to Malachai. Malachai buys them off with an offer of a drink, and the little girl pipes up with, "My daddy can drink you under the table!" The girl insists that her daddy can beat them - didn't he just escape from the castle? The tabarded folks ask Malachai if he has just escaped from the Bastille, as they just did. Malachai chats and drinks with the escapees. -------------- Lost... In... Faerie! Celeste. [You're dead. Are you cold? Do you need a sweater?] Celeste notices that all of her trumps of males are of Zack, and all of her trumps of females are of that elfin woman. Zack tells Celeste that the woman is apparently his sister Ivy, a daughter of Julian and someone from Chaos from another reality. Celeste tells Zack that she came to an agreement with Titania for free passage. They split up to search. Nobody has seen Faythe. Random amusement with a troop of imps happens. They tell her that she is about to enter unseelie Faerie, which is under the rule of the winter queen, not Titania. Celeste tries to trump Zack with Zack's trump, and fails. She tries with Bleys's trump, and gets Zack, but he looks like Bleys. Zack is interested that the imps left without enforcing their claim on Celeste for the information they gave her. They discuss the ramifications of Celeste's bargain with Titania. Zack goes off to do some research, and she calls him back a bit later using Corwin's trump. Zack tells Celeste that she is temporary nobility for this visit. She's free to interact, eat, drink, sleep, rearrange, and do whatever she wants on this visit. As far as he knows, there are only four nobles currently - himself, Ivy, the Queen, and the winter queen. Celeste chats with the Cave of Wonders, and ends up conjuring a lit torch. Disturbingly, it takes her no effort to do so. She enters the cave. After a bit, she sees a pedestal with a big sign hanging over it reading, "This is the lamp. In case you couldn't tell. -- Zack." She checks out behind the pedestal. On the back of the sign is printed, in reverse, "This is the lamp. In case you couldn't tell." Celeste continues, and finds a youth hostel. In front of it is a row of girls in short skirts. They chorus at her, proclaiming that they are the hostages. There aren't any others - they're the jealous type. Celeste takes the lamp and leaves. She asks all of the animate types that she notices in the Cave if they've seen Faythe - nope. Celeste leaves the Cave, and promises to return the lamp to the Cave if the pirates can help her find Faythe. Celeste goes looking for pirates. She finds many pirates. The first two groups aren't helpful. The third group grabs her and runs off with her. They claim that they want to put her on broadway - they're corporate pirates. They put her down backstage. She leaves, and runs into a foggy area. Kermit the Fog apparently got a job as stage manager here. He warns her that the pirates won't go away until they get their ten percent. Kermit gives Celeste a lift out through the roof. Celeste follows the fog from the city to a tavern. She enters, and sees a familiar-looking male redhead sitting at the bar drinking. He quirks an eyebrow at her and invites her to sit down. Celeste can tell that it's not really Brand, it's just a good approximation. The closer that she gets to him, the closer he gets to her image of him. She resists screaming or fainting, and her second reaction to him is to choke the shit out of him. She resists that, too. Celeste shows the picture to him, and he says, "No, I haven't seen our daughter in ages." In the back of Celeste's mind, she hears, "Daughter. Interesting." Celeste starts to get toasted. --EORun--
