DRAFT Run Log for 980324 Present: Tia - Cassandra, Damia Andrew - Osric Sam - Jean Dave K - Ilk, logging ---------------------- Major Events: * Jean Finds Suhuy? ---------------------- Prequel Damia was meeting her son and Vail's daughter in the woods and had just handed the baby back to Bast. The Spiral has slowly begun to regenerate. It is no longer just a painting on the floor. The ex-Norton heads are preparing to outmaneuver the toothpicks through the creative use of shadow-gates. ------------------------- What You Need is the Fringe Foreign Legion Osric is still interfacing his device with the Fringe's sensors. He investigates the place where Rathor came from. There are a large number of life platforms floating around, and the platforms have stepping disks around their edges that lead to other platforms. The ring station remains fixed; sometimes there is a platform beneath it, and sometimes there is not. There is atmosphere around and between the platforms, but the only apparent solid matter in this shadow is on the platforms. Osric heads out to deal with the humanoids native to that place. He tells them that Armageddon is coming, but that there is one way to avert it. Glowing people is mentioned by panicked natives. Osric commands the natives to throw things off the platform on the other side of the ring in order to lighten the platforms. Rathor is enthusiastic about throwing people off the platforms as well. Osric partakes in the ceremonial meal of gears, oil, and other mechanical devices, and then leaves. After returning to his command center, he shuts off that area from the rest of the Fringe to keep them from wandering and cranks up the time-rate of that shadow. Osric watches them as he continues interfacing the device. The power needle is rising now. He observes that living and dense materials have the best rate of return. Osric is about three-quarters of the way connected, and decides that he needs to have a nap. Upon waking up, he notices that the natives of that shadow have built a gantry and conveyor belt out to the Fringe gate. ------------------------------ Jean Finds Suhuy? Jean has finished walking the primal Pattern and is taking a nap in the center of the primal Pattern. He dreams about Suhuy - not the Suhuy ghost, or the evil Suhuy that drove them all insane and made them follow orders, but the nice Suhuy that Ilk was telling him stories about. [The GM checks to see how much stuff Jean has] [Norton Utilities for Jean?] Jean wakes up in a nice comfortable bed. He opens his eyes. Directly above him, embedded in the ceiling, is what looks like a giant red gem. There is an adult human in the center of it. The human looks like Suhuy, and is naked. The walls of the room are covered in tapestries, and there is an unlit candle on a shelf next to the bed. The only light source in the room is the red gem. Jean bounces up and down on the bed. The bed yields, and doesn't bounce very well. The gem is about ten feet away. Jean grabs a candalabara, stacks it on the bed, and climbs the candalabara. He's four feet closer to the gem. Most of the scenes on the tapestries are things like a wolf ripping the throat out of a unicorn and a unicorn being impaled on spikes. Patterns in the dust show that a square object and a circular object were once on the shelf next to the bed, but there is only a candle there now. Jean takes the candle off the shelf and tries to lift the shelf, but it is attached to the wall. He pushes, and rips the shelf off the wall. The wall appears to be made out of a crumbly rock material. Jean kicks at it, and makes a hole. The inside of the hole is dark. Jean can't figure out how to light the candle, and puts it back down. He picks up the piece of wood that used to be a shelf and throws it at the Jewel. The wood shatters, and the Jewel doesn't budge. He throws the candelabra at the Jewel, and it pings off the Jewel. Jean in ex-Norton's head pipes up and starts telling the head people about Jean prime's activities. Jean climbs up the wall between the wall and the tapestries, feet first, by kicking holes into the wall with his feet and then using them as hand and foot-holds. Jean is about three-quarters of the way up the wall when a tall, thin lady who seems to by wearing very-fuzzy-in-places clothing enters through the hidden door he found earlier. The head people speculate, but can't identify her. The clothing that she is wearing moves. A furry head moves, sniffs a bit, and shifts its weight to turn the woman towards Jean. She says something in a lilting language the Jean hasn't heard before, but is pleasant to hear. Jean says hello. The fuzzy thing on her clears its throat and greets Jean. "Ah, so that is your language. Clumsy, but efficient." Jean is invited to breakfast, and comes out from behind the tapestry. Introductions happen between the fuzzy thing and Jean. "I am Augral" "I am me" [If you try something, and you fail because you have too much good stuff... ] Jean tries to pass fire along from the spellcasting Jean to the primal Jean. The spellcasting Jean catches on fire; Ilk puts him out. Celeste notices that a massive fire spell was just unracked next to her. Jean tries to get a light source from the companions. "It's not a candle, it's a religious, and it should not be lit." The woman creates a blue light. Jean tries to get her to shine the light in the hole behind the tapestry. She refuses, and insists that he come and eat breakfast. Jean throws a temper-tantrum, and the woman throws the light at Jean. It hovers over his head. Jean lifts a tapestry and kneels down to look at the holes. Unfortunately, the light is not very bright. Augral expresses surprise at the holes Jean casually made in the wall, and Augral and the woman have a long conversation in the liquid foreign language. Ilk tries to warn Jean off the food and fails. Jean eats heartily. Augral eats grains and some fruits. The woman eats slices of meat and porridge-like stuff with things that look like eyeballs floating in it. There are a bunch of other people there; they all talk in the piping language. There is one frequently repeated phrase that Jean thinks translates to, "Awww - isn't that cute." [The phrase actually means, "As it was written"] --------------- The Ilk in the crowded ex-Norton's head chats briefly with the Celeste simulacrum, and asks Ilk prime to ask Celeste prime and her companion if they would mind investigating an oddity in Darkover with him. The ex-Norton heads have no internal power any more, and are being sustained by the radiation field. Ilk prime starts acquiring jade from the rock guys to give to the heads and to make another body for Jean. --EORun--
