DRAFT Run Log for 980414 Present: Tia - Cassandra Andrew - Osric Dave R - Malachai Lori - Celeste Sam - Jean Dave K - Ilk, logging Ken - Norton ----------------- Major Events: * Jean Quests for Knowledge and Breaks Stuff * Inflating Clarissa ----------------- Jean Quests for Knowledge and Breaks Stuff Jean prime has just finished breakfast. His hosts are sitting around and chatting in a language that he doesn't understand. Jean asks Augral for a light so he can go look through the hole. Augral says something to a man, who leaves and comes back carrying something that looks like an icicle, but it's not cold, and it's glowing. The woman around whom Augral is draped says something formal to the table, and the three of them get up and head back to the room with the Suhuy-inhabited Jewel. There is swirling grey mist in the hole that Jean kicked through the wall. He pokes the icicle into the mist, and pulls it back out. Jean's companions think the mist looks like the other side of a wall, and the lady only sees a ceiling - no big red gem with a Mr Suhuy in it. Augral can see the gem, but can't see the mist. Jean in the flying saucer tries to get ideas from Ilk. Jean throws the candelabra at the wall to do a noise check. It goes through the wall, taking the tapestry over the wall with it. Jean pulls the tapestry back through the hole, but the candelabra doesn't come with it. The lady is shocked and mutters something. Augral pipes up. "Impressive." Jean - "Do you see the candelabra now? It's floating in the mist." Augral - "You threw the candelabra through the wall..." Jean - "It's not a very strong wall." Augral - "The only place where the walls are significantly stronger is Amber..." Jean - "I haven't tested the walls there yet." Jean takes the candle, hefts it, and bounces it gently off the ceiling. It splatters and sticks onto the Jewel. Jean - "Hey Augral - do you know Mr. Suhuy?" Augral - "Being that I can assume that is the being subsumed in the jewel, I cannot say that I have made his acquaintance." Jean - "What else can I bounce off the ceiling?" Augral - "Don't even lay a hand on me, young man!" Jean checks his pockets, and finds nothing that would make a nice noise. Jean jumps up, grabs a wall sconce, places a foot on the wall on each side of it, and pulls. The sconce separates from the wall and Jean goes flying. He hits the far wall, bounces, gets back up, and pings the sconce off the ceiling. It shatters. The woman claims to not hear the ping. Jean prime gets tired of testing the Jewel and goes to play with Augral. --------------- Several Meaty Thuds Logrus Jean is in Castle Amber being followed by bunnies that hop and blink in unison. Jean opens a closet and hops inside. The bunnies hop in behind him. Jean jumps back out and slams the door shut. There are several meaty thuds behind him as the bunnies try to follow. Logrus Jean heads towards Flora's rooms. -------------- Preparing to Investigate Gwen Osric has just finished hooking up the psychic doohicky to his computer. He opens a communications channel into the infected region and takes a sample. It's sentient and self-aware. It rates out significantly higher than anything else he has measured to date, including the statued Mellor. He can't measure or record its activity, though. He thinks that if he leaves the window open for long enough, it will be able to get through, so he closes the channel. Osric goes out somewhere and trumps Corwin. Corwin takes the call. He looks somewhat pallid. Corwin tells Osric that he hasn't been in contact with the others recently - he's been becoming a better form of undead. He just grew his tongue back recently. Osric asks for assistance against someone with wings and sunglasses. Corwin says that his daughter is somewhat of an expert in that field. Corwin asks Osric how he contacted him here. "By trump." "Where are you?" Osric describes his surroundings. "Pull me through?" "How?" "Stick your hand out." Osric does so, and Corwin comes through. Corwin asks Osric how he got here. Osric tries to start to describe, changes his mind and asks Corwin why he wants to know. Corwin says that it might be more convenient to retrace Osric's steps in order to get back. Osric waffles for a while, then says that Corwin can't go that way - it's very rare. "Well, as long as it's rare. Why don't you go back to the last place where you were and trump me again in fifteen minutes?" Osric asks where he can acquire a set of trumps; Corwin suggests trying a trump artist like Darkstar or Celeste. Osric retraces his steps through the Fringe back into shadow. He trumps Corwin, who accepts the call. "What's all this running-about for?" "It's positional." "I'll take your word for it." "You don't look to be very close to Tir." Osric pulls Corwin through, and warns him that the place where he would have taken him is now a plane of radioactive glass. Corwin excuses himself momentarily. Malachai gets a trump call. It's Corwin. Corwin looks very pale, but much more put-together. Corwin warns him that someone seems to be running around turning shadows into radioactive sheets of glass. Malachai replies that Ilk told him that there was a ring of shadows like that around Amber. Malachai expresses surprise that Corwin got the trump contact through, given the blocks against Pattern and trump around Amber, although apparently one can get through them with Logrus. Corwin says that he is using a trump made by Darkstar that uses Logrus instead of Pattern. Malachai's normal trump was unreachable. "Carry on. Good heir." Corwin tries to trump Cassandra, and fails. Corwin trumps Malachai again. Corwin asks Malachai if he knew of anyone that accompanied his daughter when they defeated that young lady in Tremere. "I didn't know she was young... and it didn't seem like that much of a victory at the time." Corwin distastefully tells Malachai that he'd be willing to sit in for him up there if Malachai could look into that situation. Corwin hands Osric his trump of Malachai and tells him to concentrate on it. Osric joins the contact, and Corwin steps through to Malachai. Corwin gives a Darkstar-generated trump of himself to Malachai. Malachai writes a note for Serena and then goes through to Osric. Malachai gives Corwin enough time to reach the stables then trumps him back. Corwin is almost at the stables, and jogs the last bit. Bucephalus nickers at Corwin. Corwin feeds him an apple, runs his hand over his neck, and passes Bucephalus through the contact. Malachai recovers the trump of himself from Osric and gives it to Corwin. Osric takes Bucephalus and Malachai through the Fringe gate. Malachai has the same stuffy-headed feeling that he has in Pearl. Osric gives Malachai a crude description of the transportation network, then starts telling Malachai about his Gwen problems. Osric and Malachai start preparing a plan. ----------------- Inflating Clarissa Clarissa is inflating like a peep in a microwave under the Nortons' expert minstrations. The Ilk in Clarissa's tower, formerly of Norton's head and then the solo escape pod, looks around and spots four grey spheres in addition to the two clutched in Clarissa's shriveled hands. Ilk, bored, explores the tower while he feeds power to Norton, Norton, and Celeste. Ilk in the full ex-head invisible flying saucer hovering over a Darkoven desert notices that the Celeste persona, curled up in a corner and gibbering, is fading. He tries to wake her with hot chocolate, but fails. The Ilk in the tower spots a brain-damaged female. She's a broken redhead, and not much of a conversationalist. Ilk in the saucer feeds power to Celeste in the saucer. She uses it to weave a spell to contact Faythe. She gains contact. Faythe is currently serving her master. Celeste disappears from the ex-head, and appears in Faythe's head. Corwin starts his "It's a Brand! It's a Brand! Kill it!" litany again. -------------- More Jeans Logrus-Jean looks for food in Castle Amber. An old servant suggests eating the dead servants to get them out of his way. Jean does so. They taste like pork. [It's chocolate-flavored corpse time] The Jolly Jean Giant is eating rock. ---------------- If Only It Weren't for Those Meddling Fish! Norton is almost done fixing Clarissa's body. He's exhausted. Celeste is being called back from the edge by the mental equivalent of warm cookies and milk by Brand. On the way out, Celeste notices that Clarissa is now running herself. The Brand head stays out long enough to kiss Celeste, then collapses back into Norton. There are now a large number of boring shadows surrounding Darkover, some of which have been drained of all life. Cassandra is bored and sulks. Ilk vents. Ilk and Cassandra pass food up to the people in the tower. Norton requests ghouls, and receives blood in little bags instead. Celeste asks him to drink that in the next room. Norton spots the drooling female in the next room and analyzes her. Ilk rats on him to Celeste, and she tells him that Norton should leave the girl alone - it's her daughter. Ilk relays. Norton thinks that Snarsht could fix her completely, and tells Celeste. Norton tells Celeste that the girl thinks that she is healed, and so isn't trying to get better. Ilk asks Celeste if she knows how the battle is going. Celeste can tell that Clarissa is slowly but steadily winning, and that she is taking advantage of the fish as she fights. Cassandra feels a nudge at her ankles. It's Peekaboo. He has a bubble of water balanced on his back with a big goldfish in it. Cassandra scratches Peekaboo's nose, and then he maneuvers his back towards her. Cassandra scratches the goldfish's nose. The goldfish seems pleased. Peekaboo heads back across the desert to put his playmate back. Ilk prime sends a few tendri along to see where the fish came from. Peekaboo stays in this shadow. The fish was from a pond in an settlement in the middle of the desert, but there are only two small kids in the entire settlement. Ilk mentions the settlement to Celeste, and puts up a viewscreen. [I want my IlkTV!] Celeste examines the situation. It's wrong. There shouldn't even be a settlement there, let alone one with lots of many-year-old dead people. The kids seem to be living entirely off goldfish that they cook with raw mental power. Celeste reaches for the keeper at the nearest Comyn settlement. She's currently resting. She says that they've been resting in shifts, pouring all of the power they can into the matrix. Celeste tells the keeper about the abandoned settlement and the children, and asks her to send someone over to pick up the children. Ilk, Norton, and Celeste chat. Celeste refers to Faythe as "my daughter" Norton tells Celeste that he shifted into Faythe by shifting into Celeste melded with Brand, after both Celeste and Brand raised their arms and disappeared. --EORun--
