Three days ago, I was on my way home from work and needed to stop for a moment. When I tried to start the car again, it wouldn't. I waited about 15 mins, and the car finally caught, and I drove home. Next day, there was some hesitation, so I took the van to work (thank you Jeff and Jana) and we made arrangements to bring in the car to the shop. Estimate: bad head gaskets, metal in coolant system. Our mechanic says $800, but they don't do that type of work, take it to a Ford Dealer. Ford says approximately $1600 and that's only a band-aid. We're working on a third opinion. We're also working on locating a new car for me cheaply -- one of our friends can help there, we think. Prayer (and any useful tips) would be appreciated. The $800 is almost do-able -- we'd have to stop getting Greg's teeth fixed, though, which has been very important, and we'd be squeezed for a while, just as we were starting to pull forward again. Oh, and the insult to the injury? I just got the new registration and decal for the car. That's right, the one that's dying. |
