Disclaimer: The characters and story of BSSM are not mine. Oops. ;P

All lyrics and the titles of the chapters belong to Evanescence (or various other bands, but they’re songs that Evanescence has at one point or another performed).

Distribution: If you want this story for any page other than the ones I’ve sent it to, please ask me first, so I know where it goes.

Spoilers: This story takes place midway through the anime, before the guys have found Kakyuu-hime, and in fact before the Lights and the Solar Senshi know about each other’s true identities. I’d place it after episode 182 but before 183.

In terms of some kind of realistic timeline…I’m reasonably certain, knowing the sequence of events in the series and the way the Japanese school year works, that there’s no way that this could actually work (i.e. that Yaten’s birthday could actually take place during the time the Lights are on Earth attending Juuban Koukou), but…work with me, people!!! Suspend your disbelief!! *waves a fist*

Note: Although this is based almost entirely on the anime, I’ve kind of borrowed from the manga and squeezed Haruka and Michiru into Juuban Koukou just for the hell of it! *evil snicker* Anyway, just letting you know…;P You might also see other manga references randomly sprinkled in.

WARNING: This story mainly contains m/m, but may contain traces of m/f and f/f. Yes, there is only one main pairing. Beware of rapidly switching sexes and genders; be careful to watch the pronouns. This story also contains a lot of consensual fooling around between two teenagers (sixteen to seventeen years old), and rather a lot of masturbation (female and male).

You’re too important for anyone
There’s something wrong with everything you see
But I, I know who you really are
You’re the one who cries when you’re alone

It began as a perfectly normal morning at Juuban Koukou. The sun was shining, the birds were singing…someone was snoring in the back of the classroom…

Then, before the teacher had even arrived, the peace was suddenly shattered by a rising commotion in the hallway. At first it was only a faint shuddering, like a distant earthquake. It grew in strength, until eventually the entire class, including the student who had up until then been snoozing, was staring at the door in alarm, wondering if a herd of mad elephants was headed their way.

All of them tensed when a second later the door was thrown open, but no elephants greeted their eyes. The only thing that came streaking through the door at top speed was one very stressed looking pop star, raven-colored ponytail streaming behind him, chest heaving as he quickly slumped back against the door and glanced left to right as though checking to make sure that no one had managed to follow him into the room.

"Yatta! That was a close one," Seiya Kou sighed, reaching up an arm to rub his forehead before he sauntered towards his desk. "I almost thought I wouldn’t make it this morning. There seemed to be about two million more screaming fangirls than usual."

"Are you okay, Seiya?"

Seiya glanced down, a smile instantly coming to his face when he heard the soft-spoken question. He always felt a sense of warmth fill him whenever he set eyes on Tsukino Usagi; there was something about her that always sent a thrill tingling up his spine. She was sitting at her desk, the doodle she’d been working on lying forgotten as she peered up at him, concern creasing her forehead prettily.

"Yeah, I’m fine. Thanks, Odango," Seiya said with a grin, reaching out to tweak one of the dumpling-like spheres on her head. She made a face, chuckling.

"Oi…be quiet," a grumpy voice said from a few desks over, and both Seiya and Usagi looked up. The voice was coming from somewhere beneath a dark thundercloud and a tired-looking mass of silver hair. "Some of us are trying to catch a few moments of extra sleep."

"Are you all right, Yaten-kun?" Aino Minako asked, leaning over slightly towards Yaten Kou from where she sat in the desk directly next to him.

"Go away," Yaten grumbled, remaining buried beneath his crossed arms and his hair.

"Yaten-kun seems very grumpy this morning," Usagi said towards Seiya, trying to keep her voice soft.

"Ah, he’s not grumpy," Seiya said cheerfully, and loudly. "He’s just being a total *asshole*, that’s all."

Usagi blushed slightly at Seiya’s language, while Minako tried not to chuckle. Yaten lifted his head a bit, and one lime-green eye focused on Seiya, fixing him with a deadly glare.

"Sorry, Yaten-kun," Usagi said softly, trying not to wince when the deadly eye swiveled and focused on her. "Are you not feeling well?"

"On the contrary," Taiki Kou said, finally deciding to contribute to the conversation. Everyone except Yaten turned towards him, watching as he lowered his glasses and fixed them all under his compelling lavender gaze. "There’s an extremely simple reason for Yaten’s behavior this morning."

"Really?" Minako said, raising her eyebrows curiously.

"Yes," Taiki said, nodding his head gravely. "Efficiency."

"Efficiency?" Kino Makoto repeated, leaning slightly towards Taiki and trying to avoid the temptation to brush his arm, which was resting casually against her desk.

"Precisely," Taiki said simply, the corner of his mouth twitching a bit.

"That’s right!" Seiya said, clapping his hands together cheerfully so that everyone’s attention turned back towards him. Yaten grumbled something under his breath and buried his face back into his folded arms. "Yaten’s a practical kind of guy, so, in anticipation of *tomorrow*, he’s working himself into a royal snit today. You get it?"

"What’s tomorrow?" Usagi asked, frowning in confusion.

"Ah, is that it?" Minako said, tittering delightedly behind her hand. Yaten began to grumble again, more loudly this time, although he didn’t bother to lift his head.

"Oh yeah…" Makoto said, trying to stifle a chuckle and turning her head away when she failed.

"I don’t get it…" Usagi pouted, turning hopefully towards Seiya.

"Never mind, Odango," Seiya said with a grin, waggling his eyebrows. "By the way, while we’re on the subject, Taiki and I need to meet with the three of you after school, as well as Mizuno-san and Hino-san if they’re free…in the broom closet."

"In the broom closet?" Usagi repeated, lifting her eyebrows doubtfully.

"Alone with Taiki-san and Seiya-kun in a broom closet…" Minako said, an agonized look suddenly coming over her face.

"Eh, watch that you don’t get a nosebleed, Aino-san…" Seiya warned her, looking concerned.

"Ohhhh…" Minako sighed happily, before she quickly got herself a tissue.

"Mattaku!" Yaten grunted irritably, slamming his hands on his desk before he shoved his chair back and hurried towards the classroom door.

"Oi, Yaten, class’s about to start," Seiya called, smirking a bit.

"I’m getting a drink," Yaten snapped back, and Seiya tried not to laugh.

"Poor guy," Seiya said quietly, and Usagi glanced back at him, surprised by the soft look she saw in his eyes. "He has no idea what’s in store for him…"

*****

"Ite!" Taiki cried out as he hit his head hard against a shelf in the broom closet.

"Urusai, baka!" Seiya hissed, lifting a slender finger to his lips. "Do you want to get caught!? A teacher might find us all in here and think we’re up to something, or worse, the press…or worse, Yaten!!"

"Sorry," Taiki whispered, wincing as he rubbed the back of his head.

Mizuno Ami, who was trying desperately not to laugh, decided to act as spokesperson.

"So what did you want to speak to us about?"

"Well, I’m sure that most of you know that tomorrow is the birthday of a certain idol who shall remain nameless," Seiya said, turning to eye all of them and winking gently when he reached Usagi, who blushed.

"Yaten-kun," Minako said cheerfully. Makoto, Ami, and Rei all cringed.

"Minako-chan!!" they growled.

"Oh, so that’s what’s happening tomorrow!" Usagi said, lifting a finger, and Seiya laughed, putting an arm around her shoulders.

"Hai, hai! Tomorrow is Yaten’s birthday, and that’s why he’s in such a bad mood…he’s afraid of what we’re going to do to him. But the truth is we’re not even *sure* what to do to him. We thought we’d ask you girls for advice. What do you think would be good presents for him?"

"Ite!!"

"Taiki!"

"Sorry," Taiki said, cringing again as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Here, switch places," Hino Rei whispered, and she and Taiki awkwardly danced with one another for a moment as they tried to switch places in the dark broom closet.

"Oo, Taiki-san, I had no idea you felt that way for…"

"I have no idea what you’re talking about, Aino-san."

"Minako-chan! Get your hand off my ass!"

"Ah!! Rei-chan!"

"Shhhh!!"

"Gomen nasai!!"

"Everyone be *quiet*!!"

"Okay. Back to Yaten," Seiya said firmly, and everybody colored before they silenced.

"Well, the first question, of course, is what you *want* to get him," Ami said sensibly, with a warm smile. "You two know him better than any of us…what do you think he would want for his birthday?"

"But that’s the problem…" Seiya said quietly, with a sheepish grin. "We *don’t* really know him that well when it comes to things like birthday gifts…"

"Ite!" Taiki whispered hoarsely, groaning loudly as he brained himself on the janitor’s bucket hanging over his head.

"Would you be quiet, man!?" Seiya demanded, before turning back to the girls. "Anyway, as I was saying, we’ve known him all our lives, but he’s just as cold with us as he is with everyone else."

"Well, do you have any ideas at all?" Ami asked hopefully.

"A few," Seiya admitted, trying to scratch the back of his leg and ending up elbowing Makoto in the ribs. She gasped and he hurried to apologize. "The truth is, what I really want to get him is a pet cat…he really seems to love cats. Never would’ve seen that one coming."

"It’s so cute!!" Minako said, bringing her hands up to her cheeks and shoving Taiki into a pile of mops in the process. "Ah, I’m so sorry, Taiki-san!"

"Shh!!" Seiya hissed towards the two of them, who both looked chastised.

"Well, cats would be your area, I think," Ami said, pointing to Usagi and Minako, who nodded determinedly. "What about you, Taiki-san?"

"I would like to get him a book of poetry," Taiki said, adjusting his glasses on his nose and sniffing softly. "He reads, of course, but he claims poetry bores him…I think he’s just reading the wrong poetry."

"That’s a good idea, Taiki-san," Ami said with a smile and a nod. "But instead of buying him a book of poems, why don’t you give him some of your own poetry?"

A charming blush spread across Taiki’s cheeks, and Seiya snickered gleefully.

"Uhh, I’m not sure my own efforts would quite be up to his standards," Taiki said, the sound of his voice muffled behind his hand as he made a show of pushing his glasses along the bridge of his nose.

"I’m sure Yaten-kun would be delighted to read whatever you wrote, Taiki-san," Makoto assured Taiki, giving him a friendly pat on his shoulder. He coughed lightly into his hand, trying not to look so embarrassed, but only succeeded in banging his head into the bucket again.

"Ite," he whispered, and everyone chuckled.

"What about the rest of us?" Minako asked, rubbing her head thoughtfully and ignoring Rei, who swore when Minako’s elbow slammed into her nose. "What should we get Yaten-kun for his birthday?"

"What are some other things he likes?" Rei asked, rubbing at her sore nose as she turned to Seiya.

"Well, he hides a secret collection of romance manga under his bed," Seiya said, and both he and Taiki chuckled at the surprised looks the girls all gave him.

"Anything hentai?" Minako asked abruptly.

"Minako-chan!!" the girls all hissed.

"Nope, not that I know of," Seiya said, scratching the back of his head and not seeming to notice when his elbow nearly took Usagi’s eye out. "Why do you ask?"

"I just thought he might have enjoyed that movie with me after all," Minako said, looking crestfallen.

"Which movie was that?" Taiki asked, lifting his eyebrows.

"The one I tried to get you to go to, Taiki-san," Minako said with a slight smile. "The day you wanted to write poetry on your own instead."

"Ah, that’s right," Taiki said, eyes lighting up with recognition. "What was the movie?"

"Adults’ Fun XX," Minako said simply.

Taiki noticeably blanched, and Seiya started to laugh out loud, so loud that Usagi punched him in the ribs, reminding him that they could easily get caught.

"Ah, sorry, sorry!" he whispered, doubling over and snickering behind his hand. "It’s just the thought of Taiki or Yaten at a movie like that…ehehehehe…"

"Be quiet," Taiki grunted, stiffening and then cringing noticeably as his head smacked straight back into one of the shelves behind his head. "Ite…"

"Shh!!"

"So who did you go to the movie with after all?" Seiya asked, genuinely curious.

"Mako-chan went with me," Minako said bluntly, and Makoto blushed as everyone turned to stare at her, obviously shocked.

"It was…educational," Makoto said, clearing her throat and then turning her eyes innocently towards the ceiling.

"…Anyway," Ami said, turning her eyes firmly back towards Seiya. "What else does Yaten-kun like?"

"Ano…" Seiya mumbled, scratching his chin. He glanced back to Taiki, looking for help, but by then Taiki had such a large goose egg on the back of his head he had his eyes closed, trying not to pass out. "I’m really not sure. If you girls are willing to go shopping with us this evening, maybe we can figure something out when we’re out…?"

"Sure!" Minako said cheerfully. "Sounds fun!"

"And then we were thinking of coaxing Yaten to get together with all of us at somebody’s house tomorrow after school," Seiya said, and then he turned to Usagi. "Odango, we were wondering if we could spend some time at your place again. I know it’s rude to ask, but the press might show up at our place tomorrow, because it’s his birthday…"

"Iie…that’s fine," Usagi said with a grin. "I don’t mind at all…I’ll just check with my parents when I get home today, but I’m sure they’ll say yes."

"Great," Seiya said, tugging lightly on one of her ponytails. "Thanks so much. We’re going to try to keep this a secret from him, obviously, so please, nobody say anything."

"Of course," Ami said, turning to glance at the others. "Everyone?"

"Hai!" everyone agreed, nodding and then clasping their hands in agreement.

"Ite!" Taiki exclaimed, bonking his head once more on the bucket.

"Dude, you need to learn to duck," Seiya told him, shaking his head.

"Shut up!" Taiki said irritably, shoving him out of the way.

"Oi!" Seiya said, trying to get a grip on Taiki’s jacket, but he was already spinning through the darkness of the cupboard, briefly gripping soft flesh---"Ah! Gomen."---before he was caught in a familiar pair of gentle arms, and just as he was about to say something, she started to take a step forward, obviously not realizing just how close he was, and…

"Ack! Chikusho…" he gasped, nearly losing his footing. It was good that conditions in the broom closet were so cramped, or he would’ve fallen to his knees, but someone behind him was pressing him so close to Usagi’s front that he couldn’t.

"Seiya?" Usagi asked, sounding confused by the tone of his voice.

"What’ve you done to him now, Usagi?" Rei asked, sounding annoyed, her hands coming to rest on Seiya’s shoulders. So, she was the one right behind him.

"Are you okay, Seiya?" Usagi asked in his ear.

"Unnnnnnng," he whimpered towards her, which only seemed to confuse her more.

"Usagi no baka!" Rei snapped then, although she seemed to be trying not to laugh. She pulled Seiya away from Usagi, who blinked, stunned by Rei’s actions. "Here, Seiya-kun, sit down."

She gently pushed him down to sit on an overturned bucket.

"Watch where your knee goes when you’re in a dark broom closet, Usagi," Rei scolded Usagi, who was now standing next to Seiya, a hand on his shoulder as she watched him fighting to catch his breath, tears in the corners of his eyes. "The last thing Seiya-kun needs is to permanently lose the ability to reproduce."

"E!?!?" Usagi screeched, and everybody winced at the sound of her voice as, eyes wide as saucers, she stared down at Seiya, who dropped his face into his hands. "Wahhhh!!!!"

Taiki suddenly started to ‘cough’ so hard that Ami had to offer to pound him on the back, and everyone else struggled not to giggle. The whole broom closet was shaking so hard that mops were falling around them, creating a miniature earthquake.

"Gomen nasai, Seiya!!" Usagi cried, kneeling next to him now and clinging pathetically to his arm. "I had no idea!!"

"Uhhh," he grunted from behind his hands. "It…it’s okay, Odango…never mind."

"Ohhhh, what a horrible thing to do…Seiya…" Usagi said, sounding near tears as she dropped her head to rest against his arm. He couldn’t help himself; chuckling, he dropped a hand to rest against the top of her head.

"I mean it, odango atama…it’s really okay. Don’t worry about it."

"That’s right, Tsukino-san…he could use a reminder like that once in a while," Taiki piped up, and Seiya glared up at him.

"Oi…shut up, you."

Taiki just chuckled.

"Well, our parents will be wondering where we are," Ami said, hiding her grin behind a well-placed hand. "We’d better get going. Hopefully we’ll see the two of you later this evening?"

"Aa…see you then," Seiya said, gingerly getting to his feet and wincing perceptively. Taiki snorted softly, and Seiya smacked him on the chest, hard, which caused several of the girls to chuckle again. Then Seiya opened the door, glanced left to right, and whispered a "Coast’s clear" back towards the others before they parted ways until later that evening.
